Crush Your Goals In The Next 120 Days with these 5 Tips

We’re four months already into 2019. And despite the progress I’ve made, I would appreciate a do-over. When you take stock of each stage of the year and compare where you’re at to your goals, you think you’ll crush your goals but you can always find room for improvement.

But a do-over is not the answer. True success is taking the lessons learned and applying them wholeheartedly to the rest of the year. You’d be surprised how far 120 days of improved focus will get you.

What do you have lined up for the months May-August?

Every moment is a moment to do better. If you’re not seeing progress with the goals you set for 2019, try implementing these five habits/tips to make part 2 of 2019 your best ever:

1. Get hungry

“For me life is continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive but to move ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer.” Arnold Schwarzenegger

Any goal you have needs to be powered by unstoppable hunger. It’s what will keep you on track. You’ve set goals because you want to take your wealth/health/life to the next level.

To go to the next level will need you to be in attack mode.

That lack of offense could be the reason you’re still stuck. Which brings the questions:

How important is this goal to you? Is it something I need to pursue now?

If you’re not hungry about the project, business idea or goal, you should throw it out. Which brings up the second tip:

2. Pursuing Less

Chances are at the start of the year, you had a laundry list of goals. Trying to get everything done may not be the best use of your time or energy.

It’s not the daily increase but daily decrease. Hack away at the unessential. –Bruce Lee

Getting going may mean removing the goals that may make you feel good when you achieve them, but don’t move the needle forward. Doing less does not make you a failure, it frees up your time to hunt the big fish.

In Tools of Titans, these few lines, taken from Newt Gingrich, keeps Tim Ferris focused on what’s important:

“A lion is fully capable of capturing, killing, and eating a field mouse. But it turns out that the energy required to do so exceeds the caloric content of the mouse itself. So a lion that spent its day hunting and eating field mice would slowly starve to death. A lion can’t live on field mice. A lion needs antelope. Antelope are big animals. They take more speed and strength to capture and kill, and once killed, they provide a feast for the lion and her pride. … So ask yourself at the end of the day, ‘Did I spend today chasing mice or hunting antelope?’”

Cross out all the goals that won’t improve your life at least 10X. And work on 1–2 exclusively over the next 120 days.

3. Exercising Your Creativity

Spend more time coming up with creative ways to achieve your goals. Set aside time for thinking in a quiet space, coming up with as many ideas as possible to solve any sticking points in gaining success.

We don’t place enough value on thinking time. An extended moment where we can disconnect, sit somewhere with a pen and paper, and let our imagination go wild.

When you come up with creative ideas, start pursuing those ideas with the hunger we covered before. Then drop what doesn’t work and do more of what does.

4. Dancing outside your comfort zone

To make progress, you need to do something that really scares you.

  • If getting on video makes you squeamish, you should give it a shot.
  • Doing that cold call could be the $10,000 sale you envisioned.
  • Taking those dance classes you said you would at the start of the year.
  • Applying for that gig you have experience little for.

Write down the 10 craziest things you could do over the next four months to crush your goals and start with the scariest thing first. When you do the scariest first, the rest seem like child’s play.

5. Get rapid help

If you have not made any progress in 2019, the answer could be as simple as this: You’re trying to do it on your own.

Going solo is a recipe for frustration and disaster.

Yes, the goal is yours.

And yes, you need to see it through. But that does not mean you should be figuring out what to do on your own. Moreso, that does not mean you need to lock yourself away until it’s done. To fix this requires rapid help:

  • Find a mentor or coach to help identify gaps and strengthen your game plan. If you can’t afford one, see what you can exchange for that person’s time.
  • Get involved in a group or mastermind to challenge your ideas, make new connections, and point you to tools and people to make it happen faster.
  • There’s no time to figure out things. You shouldn’t be spending time learning to build a website, figuring out a meal plan, or editing your book. You don’t need to own a business to hire someone. Outsource what you can to people who love to do it.

If you’ve gone through January to April without getting help for your goals, it’s one of the main reasons you’ve seen no progress.

It’s time to crush your goals for Part 2 of the year. Changing things up is the only way to make serious progress. Get hungry on one or two goals and get the help you need to execute. Then you’ll be sitting pretty to finish out the year strong!
